We all knew David, funny man, raconteur and life and soul of the party.

But I also remember the David the great charmer. At my son’s (his godson Chris’s) christening, Sandy lost a bet with him that he couldn’t get my mother Edith (always immaculate, with full make-up and tailored clothes even when going to post a letter) into our stagnant muddy pond. I will never know how he did it but the photos pre-date photoshop.
